CONFIRMED:

A3: The A3 gets revised front and rear styling, an optional magnetic ride control system (similar to that found in the TT and R8), and the availability of Quattro all-wheel-drive in four-cylinder (2.0T) models. Leather seats, SIRIUS satellite radio, and an auxiliary audio input jack are now standard on all A3s, while 3.2 models get Xenon headlights, Bluetooth and the Open Sky panoramic sunroof. The sport suspension and sport seats are no longer standard on the 3.2, and the retractable rear-window sunshades and ashtray kit have been striken from the option list (sorry, smokers).

A4 SEDAN/AVANT: Audi will introduce the new version of the A4 compact sedan and wagon (Avant) in fall 2008 as a 2009 model. The new A4 features updated styling similar to the 2008 Audi A5. The new model makes extensive use of lightweight steel and features chassis and suspension improvements designed to make the A4 more involving to drive. The US version will be available with a new 211 horsepower version of Audi's 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as well as a 265 horsepower 3.2 liter V6. A 3.0 liter turbodiesel V6 will join the lineup in 2010 or 2011.

A4 CABRIOLET: The A4 Cabriolet will continue to be based on the "old" (2008) A4. Bluetooth and SIRIUS satellite radio are now standard, as is S-Line exterior trim. 2.0T and 3.2 models get new alloy wheels.

A5/S5: An auxiliary input jack is now standard, and steering-wheel-mounted paddles, previously standard on the A5 3.2, are now part of the S-Line package. The navigation system can now be controlled by voice commands, and adaptive cruise control and Drive Select (adaptive suspension and steering) are now optional.

A6/S6: The A6 gets new front and rear styling and a new engine, the 3.0 TFSI. This 3.0 liter V6 uses direct injection and a supercharger to produce 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0 TFSI will fill the space between the 255 hp 3.1 liter V6 and the 350 hp 4.2 liter V8 in the sedan lineup, and will be the exclusive engine for the A6 Avant (wagon). The S6 continues on with its 435 hp 5.2 liter V10. Other changes include an enhanced interior, improvements to the suspension and all-wheel-drive system, and a blind-spot warning system.

A8/S8: Items previously offered in the Premium Package are now standard, and option packages have been shuffled around a bit.

Q5: Audi's first compact SUV will make its debut in 2009. US-market Q5s will be powered by a 3.2 liter V6 engine with FSI direct injection, six-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel-drive.

Q7: Audi's big SUV will get diesel power for 2009. The Q7 3.0 TDI will be powered by a 3.0 liter turbodiesel V6 that puts out 260 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque and accelerates the Q7 to 60 MPH in 8.4 seconds.

R8: The R8 gets a standard CD changer, Bluetooth phone interface, Homelink garage door opener, and a $3,500 price hike.

S4: The S4 will return as a 2010 model. In place of the current car's 4.2 liter V8, the new S4 gets a 3-liter turbocharged V6 with direct fuel injection. Compared to the old V8, the new V6 produces slightly less horsepower (333 hp vs. the V8's 340) but more torque (325 lb-ft compared to 302 lb-ft). In fact, the new V6 produces more torque than the RS4's engine. Audi claims a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, 2/10ths faster than the current S4 and only one-third of a second behind the RS4. The bad news? The S4 will only be available as a sedan, not a wagon.

TT: Audi will introduce a new performance version called the TTS in both coupe and convertible form. The TTS features a special high-performance version of the turbocharged 2.0T engine, with output raised to 265 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Audi's S-Tronic transmission (also known as the direct-shift gearbox) and Quattro all-wheel-drive are standard. Other TTs get additional standard equipment and revised options, and 2.0T models can now be had with Quattro all-wheel-drive (though still no manual transmission). TT Roadsters now come with a manually-operated convertible top. (In a $38,000 car? Are you kidding me?)

RUMORED:

DIESELS: Audi is considering adding diesels to several of its models, including a 3.0 liter TDI V6 for the A5, V8 and V12 diesels for the Q7 SUV, and a V12 diesel for the R8.
